Every class is planned to get you talking more, with Oxford materials and a teacher who guides rather than just explains. ## What Fluência Inteligente is Fluência Inteligente, the school’s “smart fluency” method, is GlobalMente’s way of teaching, built on the communicative approach: the goal is to communicate in the language, not memorize rules. Grammar shows up in the service of what you need to say. Classes are student-centered. The teacher is a facilitator: creating situations, giving support where it’s needed, and letting you work, make mistakes, self-correct and use what you already know. Pair and group work are part of the design. When students talk to each other, they have to make themselves understood for real, and that speeds up both speaking and listening. ## The pillars of the method The ten pillars the school lists, gathered into eight points. ### Oxford University Press partner network The school is part of the partner network of Oxford University Press, the University of Oxford’s publishing house, which shapes its materials, platform and teacher training. ### Focus on communication Teaching geared toward real use of the language and its culture, with an emphasis on conversation from the very first level. ### Qualified, trained teachers A degree in education, C1 or C2 proficiency in the language, and training from Oxford in Brazil. ### Oxford materials and platform The publisher’s exclusive books and materials, plus Oxford’s interactive platform for practice outside class. ### 120 hours a year, with drop-in sessions 80 hours in class and 40 outside it, what the school describes as the most class time on the market, plus drop-in tutoring and conversation sessions. ### Cultural events Gatherings to experience the language and culture you’re studying, outside the classroom routine. ### Study-abroad and cultural programs International programs organized by the school itself and led by the director. ### Oxford Test of English certification At the end of the course, OTE certification records the level you have reached. ## What a class is like: the five ingredients Every GlobalMente class is CRISP: communicative, relevant, interactive, supported and personalized. 1. 1 ### Communicative Time spent speaking is what builds fluency and confidence most. That’s why the class is designed to get you talking. 2. 2 ### Relevant What’s in the book becomes a situation from your own life: work, travel, study, family. 3. 3 ### Interactive In pairs or in groups, the class feels lighter, and you learn from your classmates too. 4. 4 ### Supported The teacher facilitates, guides and steps in only where needed. You think, try, make mistakes and get it right. 5. 5 ### Personalized You use the new language to talk about yourself. That’s where progress shows up and sticks. ## Four skills, continuous assessment Classes develop all four skills at once: listening, speaking, reading and writing, with an emphasis on conversation. Assessment is continuous and gives equal weight to speaking and writing, along with platform practice, extensive reading and class participation. You get feedback on what you already do well and what needs work, not just a grade. Extensive reading uses Oxford graded readers, chosen by the student and read at their own pace, without a dictionary and for pleasure. ## Hours, drop-in sessions, events and certification The regular course adds up to 120 hours a year: 80 in live classes and 40 of practice outside class on the platform. The school describes this as the most class time on the market. Outside class, there are drop-in tutoring and conversation sessions to clear up doubts and get you speaking, plus cultural events for immersion in the language.
